From a Japanese koi pond to the National Herb Garden the Arboretum has some pretty unique outdoor sights including several miles of diverse hiking trails. And during spring you can see Cherry Blossoms in full bloom here. The park is a little off the beaten path tucked between busy roads in Northeast but with over 400 acres of land to explore you can make a great hike right in the middle of D.C.

With a combination of dirt grass and paved trails you can make an educational and pristine 7-mile hike. Exploring is half the fun here and the established trails are on the shorter side of things. And be sure to check out the Old Capitol columns standing like a gothic stonehenge in the middle of a rolling prairie.
