On display in the Tuttle Gallery, the exhibition features creative expressions by two artists who died young, Kristin Rita Strouse and Elisif Janis Bruun, whose works both illuminate and obscure their passages through mental illness and addiction. It is part of the New Day Campaign, a 2015 initiative to challenge the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and addiction. The opening reception on Tuesday, Nov. 17 includes a conversation with co-curators Sharon Strouse and Peter Bruun from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Dec. 2, parents Sharon Strouse and Peter Bruun will discuss the loss of their daughters to mental illness and addiction and offer insights to help school communities become safer and more aware. The program will take place in the Klein Lyceum in the Edward St. John Student Center from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. A reception in Tuttle Gallery will follow.
