In this series of four teacher workshops, Walters conservators, scientists, and educators explore the many connections between science and art. Each session will introduce participants to the examination techniques used by conservators and scientists in the care and treatment of works of art from the Walters’ collection. In this session we will use case studies from both the Mediterranean basin and the ancient Americas to illustrate how science and technology can be used to answer questions concerning the age and authenticity of an artwork.
