In The Real Cost of Fracking, Michelle Bamberger, a veterinarian, and Robert Oswald, a pharmacologist, show how hydraulic fracturing endangers the environment and harms people, pets, and livestock. They reveal the harrowing experiences of small farmers who have lost their animals and their livelihoods and of rural families whose property values have plummeted as their towns have been invaded by drillers. Books will be available for purchase and authors will hold a signing after the talk. Experts from Food and Water Watch Maryland will be on hand to talk about the impact of fracking on Maryland, their efforts to pass a state moratorium, and how you can get involved.
