Thousands of Jewish books & documents were found in a flooded basement at the Iraqi Intelligence Headquarters in Baghdad in 2003. They give a record of Iraqi Jewish life & the community, which existed for over 2,000 yrs. Ms. Hamburg tells the story of these artifacts & how the National Archives saved & made them accessible worldwide. She will introduce JMM’s exhibit Discovery & Recovery:Preserving Iraqi Jewish Heritage, which comes from this collection & explores the history of this community.
