In their joint exhibition: Fragile Vessels, Lewis uses the fragile materiality of paper to interrogate the fragility of the human body-- especially, the African American body—while Derricotte uses the fragile and seemingly transparent material of glass to explore the simultaneous effacement and insistent presence of the African American experience in American history.Lewis and Derricotte will join faculty to discuss representations of the black body in art, history, and contemporary media. Takes place in the Julio Fine Arts Gallery.
