Throughout December, the Maryland SPCA is collecting toys for the cats and dogs in their adoption center. With their toy supply running low, the goal is to fill their Presents for Pets sleigh and collect enough toys in one month to entertain the homeless animals in their shelter now and for the coming year. “You should see how excited our cats and dogs get when they receive a special toy when they come to our adoption center,” said Byron Logan, executive director of the Maryland SPCA. “Providing toys and treats for the homeless pets in our care not only makes them happy, but they also help to socialize pets, reduce stress and improve their overall health.” Some of the toys that pets enjoy while they are at the MD SPCA include Kongs, Buster Cubes, toy mice (without catnip) and plush, squeaky toys. To donate a new cat or dog toy or treats, items can be brought, during business hours, to the MD SPCA’s adoption center located at 3300 Falls Rd., Baltimore, MD 21211 or at Project Adopt located in White Marsh Mall (next to the JC Penney) at 8200 Perry Hall Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21236. Toys and treats for the pets can also be purchased online from the MD SPCA’s AmazonSmile wish list at: www.mdspca.org/amazonsmile. Items will be shipped directly to the shelter.
