The Julio Fine Arts Gallery at Loyola University Maryland presents “Negotiating Absence,” an exhibition of sculpture and works on paper by Michelle Dickson. Dickson’s new work is a collection of mixed-media sculptures and works on paper that deal with concepts of time and its effect on memory, the body, and relationships. Subtle oppositions are explored; presence and absence, tension and release, the beautiful and the grotesque. The fact that some of the sculptures are casts of the artist’s face combined with pieces of found wood, both items in states of decay, makes the work more personal. Week days 11 am - 5 pm, weekends 1-4 pm.
