The American Liszt Society Baltimore-Washington Chapter and Notre Dame of MD University welcome internationally acclaimed guest artists (many of whom were first-prize winners from previous years), and contestants. The competition is open to musicians of all nationalities who have studied privately, at a college, or music conservatory. The 2015 Festival examines Magyar folklore, the inspiration for much of the music of Franz Liszt (1811-1886) and Béla Bartók (1881-1945). This event celebrates, notably, the music of Liszt and Bartók, Folklore traditions, and the life of Baltimore pianist, William Garrison, in concerts, three competition categories, a round table discussion, and closing with the awards ceremony.
