A reading to celebrate the release of a new chapbook by Dylan Kinnett, entitled "Litanies and Reiterations." "Litanies and Reiterations" is a small book of short, formally experimental writings that address themes of repetition, ritual, frustration, and futility. The new chapbook from emerging writer Dylan Kinnett takes its cue from the author's collection of found phrases that are repeated in everyday conversation: common expressions, lines repeated in song lyrics, blog comments, and catalogs. Haunting, rhythmic and incantatory, the collection reiterates those commonplace utterances until they become more powerful. The playfully arranged lines of text in this collection express a penchant for lists of things like lies, for example, or 19th-Century patent medicines, or conspiracies. The author, Dylan Kinnett, is originally from Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He now lives in Baltimore, Maryland. Litanies and Reiterations ($7, 24 pages, 7 x 9", paperback, ISBN: 978-1511636018) will be available at the event.
