Last House Standing: A Play about the Highway to Nowhere by Sheila Gaskins is centered around a family who lives in a small neighborhood on the Westside of Baltimore. In 1968, a failed transportation project forced the neighborhood residents to leave their homes, businesses and churches to make way for a 2.5 mile stretch of highway. The residents refer to the highway as “The Highway to No Where.” The play is the brain child of Culture Works, founded by Denise Johnson and Ashley Milburn.
