Have you ever wondered how colonists constructed clothing without machinery? Mattie Hayes, developer of the EZ Stitch Sampler, will introduce the concept of hand sewing and teach the versatile running stitch. Enjoy using it as you sew over a design that has been printed onto a square of cloth, which you could later on fill with potpourri, attach to a garment or another sewing project. Afterward, explore the museum’s new exhibit, Reconstructing the Daily Narrative: Fragment by Fragment, and view Hayes’ hand-sewn wholecloth infant quilt in the “Needlework” section.
