The incredible performers of Globus Hystericus (Ljubljana, Slovenia) will be in Baltimore at EMP for a special three day physical theater and clowning workshop. Space is extremely limited (approximately 8 slots). The workshop will take place Friday night and Saturday/Sunday afternoons the weekend of December 18 – 20. Reserve your spot: http://tinyurl.com/globushystericustix This is a 3-day, 20 hour, clown intensive. Nose provided! In this intensive, performers can: Give birth to your inner clown – metaphorically! Gain a deeper understanding of their bodies and performance instincts – literally! Experience the pleasure of allowing a unique and archetypal energy to pass through them in the present moment – palpably! Here’s how the workshop goes: We start with an overview of Lecoq-based physical theatre principles. Then there’s an exploration and analysis (from Greek analyein, “loosen up, release, set free”) of each performer’s body: their rhythm, galt, gestural habits, etc. Then, from analysis, we move on to play, play, play, allowing each performer to fully embody their clown. And finally, from play we can experience each clown’s unique comic and poetical way of life. (If, and only if, the performer really goes for it!). Justin Durel and Alenka Marinič are independent theatre artists who have created, performed in, and directed many theatre pieces throughout Europe, the US, and Canada. Their collaboration began at the Helikos International School of Physical Theater, Florence, Italy, where they studied under internationally renowned pedagogue Giovanni Fusetti. As teachers, they have taught workshops in Slovenia, Italy, and Germany. Next stop: USA. They have trained with many teachers who have influenced their pedagody, especially: Norman Taylor, Amy Russell, Elizabeth Baron, Pol Charoy, and Imanou Risselard (Wu Tao Paris), and Matteo Destro.
