St. John’s College welcomes the community to participate in evening and weekend seminars and fine arts workshops, through its Continuing Education and Fine Arts Program. Engage in lively seminar discussions of classic works including “Anna Karenina,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and “The Complete Essays of Montaigne,” as well as works by Plato, Aristotle, Shakespeare, Descartes, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, among others. Fine arts offerings include a pottery workshop and a summer writing intensive, organized by noted regional writers Laura Oliver and Lynn Auld Schultz. Programs are held on weekday evenings on the Annapolis campus and meet once a week for three to six sessions. Weekend seminars meet three times over the course of a single weekend. Fine Arts workshops meet on Saturday. A special one-day Summer Writing Intensive will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Francis Scott Key Lobby, Mellon Hall. Participants will have the opportunity to join other writers for a day devoted to writing discovery and inspiration. Working under the guidance of award-winning authors, participants may select four workshops from seven choices. In addition, participants will have the opportunity for private consultations with a faculty member to discuss personal writing challenges. All levels are welcome. All classes are open to the public, individuals 18 and older. Summer classes begin June 13. Tuition ranges from $105 to $200. An additional materials fee may be required.
