Community arts nonprofit Jubilee Arts has worked since 2008 to revive the legacy of arts and culture on its historic stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue. The Gala will feature swing-style dances once prominently featured at legendary institutions on Pennsylvania Avenue such as the Royal Theatre, Sphinx Club, and others. The event will benefit Jubilee Arts, which fills a void for arts opportunities in west Baltimore with art classes and activities six days a week for youth and adults. Five local celebrities will perform in the Dancing for a Cause Gala featuring dances like the Chicago Step, Hand Dance, and Detroit Urban Ballroom. Participants will be Baltimore City 7th district Councilman Nick Mosby; Community Activist and party promoter Derrick Chase; KarmaPop Ice Pops owner Krystal Mack; Audacious & Feral owner Ayana Reynolds; and skate guru Lawrence Moore. In a Dancing with the Stars style format, each participant was paired with an experienced dance instructor and through grueling rehearsals learned a routine that will be performed at the gala event.
