This majestic exhibition celebrates an iconic dance company, its visionary founder Arthur Mitchell, and their triumph over social norms and prejudice to pursue their talent. In the process, the dancers made history and established a world- renowned company that has shattered barriers for future generations of aspiring performers. Be immersed in the dazzling costumes, historical photographs, set pieces, and video excerpts from dramatically-staged ballets that are iconic to the company. The exhibition is organized by Dance Theatre of Harlem, California African American Museum, and The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington D.C.
