He was doing gigs nightly, but the diagnosis forced him to double-down on his craft. Jones subsequently appeared on the Ellen Degeneres’ Show, who began to advocate for him to get a comedy special. HBO came on board and this past year they debuted Quincy Jones: Burning the Light, a hilarious and inspirational hour long special.
