When it comes to Baltimore, art and protest never seem to be far apart. Indeed, many protests have featured contingents of artists, and art performances and shows often explicitly take on Baltimore politics. Events over the past year since the Uprising, from protests over Confederate memorials to calling out the continued segregation of the arts scene, points to the centrality of the arts community to Baltimore's politics and struggles over social justice.
