Designed for health professionals and individuals with dementia, their family, friends and caregivers, this educational event will feature a keynote address from Dan Cohen, executive director of Music & Memory, a nonprofit organization that brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly or infirm through digital music technology. His work to enrich the lives of nursing home residents through personalized music was featured in the documentary, "Alive Inside: The Story of Music and Memory.” The full-day conference will include several breakout sessions, including an inspirational panel of individuals with dementia and their caregivers, on the basics of Alzheimer’s, managing difficult behaviors, dementia and intellectual difficulties, managing caregiver stress and best practices in dementia care.
